Director, Global Trade Compliance

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for overseeing our trade compliance program across the Asia region. The Director will play a leadership role in implementing and overseeing procedures and programs to ensure compliance with U.S. export controls and sanctions regulations, as well as import and export laws in the countries where we operate throughout Asia.

This role will be based in Singapore and report directly to the Vice President, Legal Compliance & Regulatory Affairs at Amkor Technology, Inc. in the United States.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee trade compliance for the Asia region, as well as the implementation of applicable US and EU requirements relevant to Amkor’s multinational footprint
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for trade compliance that supports operational efficiency, regulatory adherence and customer support
  • Continually enhance and update the trade compliance program with robust procedures and controls to ensure compliance with U.S. export controls and sanctions (e.g., EAR, ITAR, OFAC) and local import and export regulations across Asia, including export authorizations, certificate of origin applications, country of origin assessments and other customs and trade matters
  • Serve as a lead point of contact for trade-related regulatory matters in the region
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Legal, Manufacturing Operations, Logistics, Procurement, Customer Service and Sales, to proactively identify and mitigate trade compliance risks
  • Monitor regulatory developments and assess their impact on business operations
  • Provide training and guidance to internal stakeholders on trade compliance requirements and best practices
  • Support internal and external assessments, audits and investigations related to trade compliance

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10-15 years of experience managing international trade compliance programs and teams
  • Proven leadership experience in the semiconductor industry or the broader electronics sector
  • Strong knowledge of US export controls and sanctions, as well as regional trade regulations in multiple Asian jurisdictions
  • Experience working in a multinational corporation with complex supply chains
  • Familiarity with trade compliance software and automation tools
  • Fluency in English; additional Asian languages a plus
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively across cultures and time zones
  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, International Business, or related field; advanced degree preferred
