James Kim

Chairman Emeritus

 

James J. Kim was appointed as Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors in October 2009 and served the company in that capacity through October 2024. In October 2024, Mr. Kim retired as Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors, and the Board of Directors recognized Mr. Kim’s extraordinary contributions to the company by bestowing on him the honorary title of Chairman Emeritus. Mr. Kim founded Amkor Technology’s predecessor, Amkor Electronics, Inc., in 1968 and served as its Chairman from 1970 to April 1998. Mr. Kim served as Amkor’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer from September 1997 until October 2009.

Throughout his tenure, Mr. Kim was instrumental in guiding the company through significant growth and innovation.
