Amkor Joins Arizona Economic Delegation to the Republic of Korea

Advancing Semiconductor Innovation, Investment & Supply Chain Resilience Through International Collaboration
As Arizona’s semiconductor industry continues to grow, collaboration across industry, government, and the broader semiconductor ecosystem remains essential to building a strong and resilient future. This week, Amkor Technology, Inc. is participating in an economic delegation to the Republic of Korea led by the Arizona Commerce Authority (ACA), alongside representatives from the City of Peoria, Greater Phoenix Economic Council (GPEC) and other Arizona partners.
The delegation will meet with leaders across government, business and academia to strengthen relationships and explore opportunities to support continued investment, innovation and growth within the semiconductor industry. The visit also highlights the growing partnership between Arizona and Korea, two regions that play important roles in the global semiconductor value chain.
For Amkor, the visit reflects a unique connection between the two regions. Since its founding, Amkor has maintained a significant presence in Korea while continuing to expand its global operations. Today, that experience and expertise are helping support one of the most significant semiconductor investments in the United States: Amkor’s advanced packaging and test campus in Peoria, Arizona.
Construction is underway on Amkor’s Arizona campus, which is expected to become the first high-volume advanced packaging and test OSAT facility in the United States and create up to 3,000 new jobs. The project is a major step toward expanding domestic semiconductor manufacturing capabilities and strengthening the advanced packaging ecosystem in North America.
Leadership Perspective
“Amkor’s history in Korea and our significant investment in Arizona give us a unique perspective on the value of international collaboration. This delegation highlights the strong partnership between Arizona and the Republic of Korea and the important role it plays in advancing semiconductor innovation, attracting investment, and strengthening supply chain resilience. We look forward to continuing to work alongside our partners to support the growth of Arizona’s semiconductor ecosystem and reinforce America’s leadership in advanced manufacturing.”

Strengthening the Semiconductor Ecosystem
As advanced packaging becomes increasingly critical to enabling next-generation technologies such as artificial intelligence, high-performance computing, automotive electronics and communications systems, strong partnerships across the semiconductor ecosystem are more important than ever. Collaboration among manufacturers, suppliers, technology providers and research institutions helps accelerate innovation while strengthening supply chain resiliency.
The Arizona facility represents an important step toward expanding advanced packaging capabilities in the United States. At the same time, it creates opportunities for suppliers and partners to participate in a rapidly growing semiconductor ecosystem that continues to attract investment from across the industry.
Across Amkor’s global manufacturing network, demand remains strong, with several packaging and test technologies operating at or near full capacity. In a number of cases, production lines are fully booked well in advance as customers secure capacity for future programs. These trends reflect the growing demand for advanced packaging and reinforce the importance of continued capacity expansion across Amkor’s global footprint, including the company’s investment in Arizona.
The delegation also reflects Arizona’s increasing prominence as a global semiconductor hub. Trade between Arizona and Korea has grown significantly in recent years, supported by ongoing collaboration between industry leaders and economic development organizations in both regions.
As Amkor continues to invest in its global manufacturing footprint and support customers around the world, the company remains focused on advancing semiconductor innovation, strengthening strategic partnerships and helping build a resilient semiconductor ecosystem that supports long-term growth in Arizona, Korea and beyond.
