The semiconductor industry is expanding at a pace that demands a highly skilled, future‑ready workforce. The Chandler Unified School District (CUSD) took an important step toward meeting that challenge with the official launch of its SEMI Career and Technical Education (CTE) program. Amkor Technology was honored to participate in this milestone event and witness firsthand how industry–education collaboration is shaping the next generation of semiconductor talent.

During the ribbon‑cutting ceremony, students shared personal reflections on their first six months in the program. Many described enrolling with modest expectations—only to find themselves deeply engaged in hands‑on labs, foundational semiconductor concepts, and weekly visits from industry experts. These interactions are helping them connect classroom learning to real engineering challenges and discover career pathways they hadn’t considered before.

Industry leaders from NXP, Intel, Cirrus Logic, and Amkor underscored the growing importance of early STEM education and workforce development initiatives. As the semiconductor ecosystem evolves, programs like the SEMI CTE initiative are building a solid foundation for talent that will support advanced manufacturing, design, and packaging technologies.

Students proudly led visitors through their rapidly expanding CTE learning space, which is already equipped with an impressive set of tools and has additional equipment scheduled to arrive later this year. Their enthusiasm reflects both the program’s momentum and the opportunities ahead.

CUSD also invited Amkor to contribute more directly to the curriculum—from displaying our banner in the classroom to providing packaging‑focused learning materials as students prepare to study advanced packaging toward the end of the school year. We are committed to supporting these efforts and helping students connect their coursework to real‑world innovation.
